Lavender Bath Salts

Lavender Bath Salts

Time for some self care and relaxation in a hot bath filled with soothing lavender bath salts!

These past few weeks have been super busy with spring cleaning and decluttering. We are Konmari-ing our entire house (PS: thank you Marie Kondo for helping me get rid of so much clutter). There is nothing quite like relaxing in a hot bath after a busy day. Add some Lavender Bath Salts into your bath and let yourself de-stress and unwind!

Ingredients

Epsom salts are not actually a salt, but a mineral compound of magnesium sulfate. They help to reduce inflammation, relax sore muscles and joints, flush out toxins, and improve blood circulation.

Baking soda makes the water more alkaline, which helps our body to flush out toxins. When baking soda is added to bath water, it helps with many skin conditions by relieving itchy skin and soothes eczema, hives, and psoriasis. It also helps to eliminate body odour.

Kaolin clay is the most gentle cosmetic clay with a neutral pH, making it perfect for sensitive or mature skin. It absorbs excess sebum (oil on skin) without drying out skin and removes dead skin cells through gentle exfoliation. It soothes irritated skin (acne, rashes, bug bites, eczema) and helps to balance skin type (oily/dry/combination).

Lavender helps to heal and improve skin conditions (scrapes, bruises, acne, rashes, razor burn, eczema, dry skin, etc.) It contains linalool and linalyl acetate, which makes it a great stress and anxiety reliever. How to Make Lavender Bath Salts

Choose a container to mix in and use right away or store for later use. Preferably glass or ceramic, since we will be adding essential oils. The ingredients need to be mixed together before being added to the bath water, otherwise the essential oils will sit on top of the bath water.

Add 1 cup of epsom salts to the container.

Next, add 1/4 cup of baking soda.

Next, add 2 tablespoons of kaolin clay.

Also add 5 drops of lavender essential oil  (Young Living or Plant Therapy) and/or 1/2 tablespoon of lavender flowers.

I often make this recipe while I am cleaning my essential oil bottles and have it ready to go!

{I use and recommend Young Living Essential Oils and Plant Therapy Essential Oils because they are 100% pure quality essential oils. There are other reputable essential oil companies to purchase from. Your local drug store’s cheap essential oil can give you a rash and not have the same positive effects because most only contain about 10% of the pure oil and the rest is filled with synthetics. Do your research and find a company you feel comfortable purchasing from.}

Mix all the ingredients together and add it all to a hot bath, store for later use, or package up in a cute jar as a gift!

Happy Bath Soaking 🙂
