Grapefruit Rosemary Scrub

Grapefruit Rosemary Scrub

Revive your skin this summer with an invigorating and fresh body scrub with grapefruit and rosemary!

Grew up in the 90’s thinking “I don’t want no scrubs”, and here I am in 2019:

♫ “Yes, I so want this scrub!
This scrub is a rub that gives all it’s love to me
Hangin’ out on my sink side
To make my skin shine
Tryin’ to exfoliate me” ♫

Revive your skin this summer with an invigorating and fresh body scrub with grapefruit and rosemary!

Ingredients

Course salt is a wonderful exfoliator for the skin on your body. Scrubbing in gentle circular motions helps to remove dead skin cells and improve circulation. Salt is best for body scrubs as it can be too harsh for facial scrubs. Use sugar instead of salt to turn this into a face scrub!

Carrier oils such as sweet almond oil, olive oil, apricot kernel oil, grapeseed oil, hemp seed oil, sunflower oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, or your personal favourite! Look for a good quality carrier oil that is organic, virgin, unrefined, and cold-pressed. These are natural oils which are easily absorbed into the skin to hydrate and moisturize.

Rosemary is one of my favourite herbs for haircare, and it is also very beneficial in a natural skincare routine. It contains antioxidants and vitamins A, B6, and C. The antioxidants help to protect skin from free radicals which can cause wrinkles and uneven skin tone. It is also antiseptic and antibacterial, and helps to improve blood circulation.

Grapefruit essential oil has a refreshing and uplifting aroma which is perfect for summer! Grapefruits are high in lycopene and antioxidants, which help to protect skin from free radicals which can cause wrinkles and uneven skin tone. It contains salicylic acid, which helps clear away any clogged pores, blemishes, or really rough dry skin on elbows and knees. The natural acids help to exfoliate dead skin cells and reveal soft and smooth skin.

How to Make Grapefruit Rosemary Body Scrub

Add 1 cup of coarse salt into your container or jar of choice (preferably glass).

Next, add 1/4 cup of your favourite carrier oil. If using coconut oil, make sure it is melted.

Finely cut up 1 rosemary sprig and add it into the container.

Put in 1/2 teaspoon of grapefruit juice or 5 drops of grapefruit essential oil (Young Living or Plant Therapy).

{I use and recommend Young Living Essential Oils and Plant Therapy Essential Oils because they are 100% pure quality essential oils. There are other reputable essential oil companies to purchase from. Your local drug store’s cheap essential oil can give you a rash and not have the same positive effects because most only contain about 10% of the pure oil and the rest is filled with synthetics. Do your research and find a company you feel comfortable purchasing from.}

Mix it all together until all the ingredients are well combined.

Apply in gentle circular motions on your body during your shower and enjoy beautiful soft skin!

Happy Body Scrubbing 🙂

What do you use to exfoliate skin? Have you made your own scrub before?
