Cuticles are just as important in nail care as your nails! If not properly taken care of they can become dry causing damage such as splitting or peeling. The last thing anyone wants is a hangnail that peels better than a banana… been there. Try this Natural Cuticle Cream to keep cuticles healthy and moisturized!

Ingredients

Carrier oils are moisturizing and full of incredible skin benefits. Choose a good quality carrier oil that is organic, cold pressed, and unrefined with no additives. Carrier oils I love for this recipe: sweet almond oil, olive oil, apricot kernel oil, grapeseed oil, hemp seed oil, sunflower oil, and jojoba oil.

Beeswax acts as the protective layer for cuticles in this recipe. It is an emolient, which makes skin softer and humectant, which draws moisture into the skin and forms a barrier to keep it in. Candelilla wax is a wonderful vegan alternative to beeswax.

Vitamin E Oil is the Queen of skin care. It is moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and helps to heal skin damage.

How to Make Natural Cuticle Cream

Start by choosing a container. I like these small metal tins and these small glass jars to hold the perfect small amount of cuticle cream.

Next, melt one tablespoon of beeswax or 1/2 tablespoon candelilla wax on a double boiler (glass bowl over a pot of hot water).

Remove bowl from heat and add one tablespoon of your favourite carrier oil and 1/2 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil.

Add up to 6 drops combined of Lavender (Young Living or Plant Therapy) and Frankincense (Young Living or Plant Therapy) essential oils. Lavender and Frankincense essential oils help to heal and improve skin conditions (scrapes, bruises, acne, rashes, razor burn, eczema, dry skin, etc.)

{I use and recommend Young Living Essential Oils and Plant Therapy Essential Oils because they are 100% pure quality essential oils. There are other reputable essential oil companies to purchase from. Your local drug store’s cheap essential oil can give you a rash and not have the same positive effects because most only contain about 10% of the pure oil and the rest is filled with synthetics. Do your research and find a company you feel comfortable purchasing from.}

Finally, add it to the container and let it cool.

Happy Cuticle Moisturizing 🙂

Do you overlook your cuticles in your nail care routine? What do you use to keep cuticle moisturized and healthy?
