Hibiscus Face Mask
Just whipping up a bright pink face mask for an at home spa day. I will have the diffuser on, good tunes playing, feet soaking in a hot water bath, and don’t forget the classic cucumber slices over my eyes.
Ingredients
White Kaolin Clay is the most gentle cosmetic clay with a neutral pH, making it perfect for sensitive or mature skin. It absorbs excess sebum (oil on skin) without drying out skin and removes dead skin cells through gentle exfoliation. It soothes irritated skin (acne, rashes, bug bites, eczema) and helps to balance skin type (oily/dry/combination).
Hibiscus is high in antioxidants that fight free radicals and give it anti-aging properties. It is also packed with Vitamin C, which helps your body to form collagen. Hibiscus is anti inflammatory and can help treat acne.
Rose Water is anti inflammatory and very soothing for skin, helping with redness, irritated skin, acne, and eczema. It is also a wonderful cleanser while it removes dirt and impurities from pores. Rose water helps to maintain the pH level of the skin and remove excess oils.
Lavender helps to heal and improve skin conditions (scrapes, bruises, acne, rashes, razor burn, eczema, dry skin, etc.) It contains linalool and linalyl acetate, which makes it a great stress and anxiety reliever. How to Make a Hibiscus Face Mask
Choose a small glass bowl to use.
Start by adding 1 teaspoon of white kaolin clay (or other clay of choice) with a non-metal spoon.
Next, add in 1-2 drops of Lavender EO (Young Living or Plant Therapy) or 1/8 teaspoon of lavender powder.
{I use and recommend Young Living Essential Oils and Plant Therapy Essential Oils because they are 100% pure quality essential oils. There are other reputable essential oil companies to purchase from. Your local drug store’s cheap essential oil can give you a rash and not have the same positive effects because most only contain about 10% of the pure oil and the rest is filled with synthetics. Do your research and find a company you feel comfortable purchasing from.}
Also add in 1/4 teaspoon of hibiscus powder. Use hibiscus in powder form or put the hibiscus flowers in a coffee grinder to make your own powder. I like to make my own powder and leave a few chunks for exfoliation! Be careful, as hibiscus can stain surfaces and clothing!
Finally, add in 1 teaspoon of rose water or plain water and mix all ingredients together with a non-metal spoon.
Apply the mask to your face (avoiding eyes, nostrils, mouth and hairline) using fingers or a mask brush and let the magic happen for about 10-15 minutes. Then, rinse the mask off. [Remember that hibiscus can stain fabrics, so avoid using any white towels and thank me later!] You should notice beautiful soft skin (especially with weekly use)! I also like to apply a few drops of carrier oil to my face afterwards for moisturizing.
Happy Pink Masking 🙂
