Moisturizing Oil Hair Mask
Leave-in conditioners aren’t doing your hair justice. They should be called leave-in-the-store-condtioners 😉 because they are coating your hair with chemicals to make hair “appear” shiny and healthy while just covering up the damage.
Ingredients
Coconut oil is full of vitamins, minerals, and medium chain fatty acids. It also contains lauric acid, which is able to go through the hair shaft to deliver those nutrients. Coconut oil is antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal which helps to prevent dandruff and keeps the scalp healthy and moisturized. It is beneficial for dry frizzy hair.
Castor oil is antibacterial and antifungal, which helps to prevent dandruff and scalp infections. It contains ricinoleic acid which regulates the pH of the scalp and improves blood circulation to the scalp resulting in increased hair growth and thickness. Castor oil is a humectant, meaning that it attracts and keeps moisture in the hair. It also contains vitamins, minerals, and omega 6 and 9 fatty acids.
Argan oil contains vitamins, antioxidants, linoleic acid, and omega 6 fatty acids. It helps to moisturize hair and prevent dandruff and dry scalp. The nutrients in argan oil prevent hair loss and increase hair growth. It create shiny, frizz-free hair and helps to define and smooth curls.
How to make a Moisturizing Hair Mask
Start by melting 1 teaspoon of coconut oil into a small bowl or container.
Next add 1 teaspoon of castor oil.
Add 1 teaspoon of argan oil.
Mix together and apply starting at the hair roots and all the way down the length of hair.
Massage scalp for a few minutes and let the oils sit in the hair for about an hour or cover with a shower cap and leave it on overnight. I usually put it up into a bun and get on with the day.
Finally wash the mask out in the shower with shampoo and enjoy beautiful, strong, shiny hair. Shampoo twice and scrub well if hair feels too oily. Hair growth will improve with frequent use.
Psst… some extra tips:
How often? I use this mask about every 1-3 weeks depending on what my hair needs.
Yes this hair mask can be used on oily hair. Apply oil to oily hair? I know I know I know… however, regular oil application will help to regulate oils on the scalp (just like on the face with the oil cleansing method). Also, it will wash out with shampoo!
Carrier oils are moisturizing and full of incredible scalp and hair benefits. Choose a good quality carrier oil that is organic, cold pressed, and unrefined with no additives.
Happy Hair Masking 🙂
Have you tried a hair mask? What do you use to keep your hair looking its best?
